EMERGING ARTIST SERIES

JANUARY 2020

January 3rd, 2020 - January 24th, 2020

Artist Statement:

As a New York native visual artist, I have had the privilege of being exposed to a variety of artwork from around the world and to people with of various cultural backgrounds.  These experiences have inspired me to travel and to experience the world with a sense of wonder and an open mind.  As I travel, I engage in conversations with locals, document my experiences through photographs then examine them for the portions that feel the most salient to my experience.  I focus in on these spaces, crop in close to mute assumptions about the social and ethnic background of the persons or animals present in the painting and use highlights of color to draw the viewer’s eyes through the artwork.  The paintings are meant to inspire a conversational dialogue between viewer and painting rather than critical look at the subject.
