SOLO EXHIBITION: MAIN GALLERY
Riverviews Artspace presents New Precarious Systems, the ongoing body of work of Philadelphia-based artist Lewis Colburn in our Main Gallery from February 7th - March 13th, 2025.
Artist Statement
My current works are a series of interrelated sculptural vignettes, combining fragmented monument-forms with a vocabulary of contemporary objects referencing artifice, automation, and human fragility. This combination of forms loosely reference a sense of acceleration both of progress and of retrograde political motion, and the idea of de-stabilizing previously monolithic forms and ideas. This is an ongoing body of work.
SOLO EXHIBITION: STUDIO 108
In Studio 108, Riverviews Artspace is proud to showcase a collection of works by local artist Michael Creed. The exhibition will be on view February 7 - March 13, 2024. To schedule a private tour email Tracey Langseth , Executive Director at gallery@riverviews.net.
Michael’s work blurs the line between function and artistry, transforming everyday objects into sculptural statements. In his own words:
"To me, furniture is a sculptural presence in daily life. We see a chair or table hundreds of times, use it, and enjoy it. But from primitive times, people have also expressed the joy and meaning of life through the appearance of functional objects. Through art, the numinous can permeate the ordinary. In my work, I show the harmony that exists between the prosaic and the poetic.
"I’ve also enjoyed translating my weekly cigar into a curious and growing collection of Cigar Art objects. In these, like my other creations, I strive to make all the pieces work to involve, surprise, and delight the participant. This practicality serves the sense of imagination and delight I want to share with all who come in contact with my work."
Join us for an evening of exploration, conversation, and discovery!

This Saturday, join Riverviews Artspace for Saturday Salons, a new and exciting opportunity for creative collaboration and community!
Local musician James Clark came up with the idea for Saturday Salons as a way to bring creatives together:
"During the Enlightenment period, salons were relaxed gatherings that would be held in different homes as a means of exchanging ideas, discussing hot topics and sharing different works of art and philosophy. People from all walks of life were welcome to gather and enjoy the company of other guests in a laid back environment that promoted the freedom to mingle and meet others that were learning, growing and being shaped by the cultural shift that was taking place.
Keeping in the same vein, we are starting our own salon-style environment as a way of uniting the creatives, the thinkers and the dreamers. No matter your medium or walk of life, you are welcome to come by and hang with other like-minded people that are eager for community and connection.
Bring yourself, bring a friend, bring your instrument, bring what you’re working on, and come hang on Saturday afternoons. We’ll be jamming, sharing, and talking life, love and everything in between. Feel free to bring something you’re wanting feedback on, or just swing by to make some new friends. All are welcome."
We look forward to seeing you there this Saturday! Our galleries are open Wednesday-Sunday, 12-4.
Dr. John Gerdy, a renowned advocate for the arts, will lead a thought-provoking discussion on how artistic endeavors can enrich our lives and strengthen our communities. Through engaging stories and insightful analysis, he will demonstrate how arts investments foster creativity, build community bonds, drive economic prosperity, and enhance public health.

On First Friday, July 5th, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm Riverviews Artspace will present a fantastic photography exhibition featuring the work of Kathy Cudlin, James Ochieng, Susan Saandholland and Larry Taylor Jr. Curated collaboratively, their work examines the world from their own unique perspectives, showcasing a glimpse into each artists’ individual lives and stories. Throughout the night, these artists will deliver short artist’s talks about their work on display.
The four artists in the Riverviews Photography Invitational each move through the world creating a visual diary of their physical surroundings, their passionate interests, and their innermost thoughts. Of the images in this exhibit, some speak to the reverence for a homeland and its endangered species, others to the camaraderie of friends, the deep appreciation for the landscape, the implied stories of street photography, and experimentation with visual content as a metaphor for movement—in short, the visual experience, the passion to capture it, and a mindfulness that can speak to others.
Alongside the Main Gallery exhibition, the Emerging Artist Series Photography Invitational will feature four up-and-coming artists in Gallery 108.
All ages are invited to join local artist Jill Jensen in a free printmaking activity in Gallery 109 from 6-7:30PM. Participants will learn one of many existing printmaking techniques, and their successful prints will be exhibited alongside larger-than-life woodcut prints as a part of Riverviews’ upcoming Monstrous and Miniscule Exhibition.
