LYNCHBURG, VA (JUNE 2020) – Weeks after closing physical doors in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Riverviews Artspace is reopening to the community on Friday, July 3rd for First Fridays from 5pm – 8pm.

“We are thrilled to invite the community, artists and patrons back to Riverviews Artspace,” says Kim Soerensen, Executive Director. “Our team has worked tirelessly to ensure our visitors are returning to the safest environment possible, and I, for one, cannot wait to welcome you when we reopen our doors in July.”

In planning for reopening, the health and well-being of patrons, volunteers, and staff has been the top priority. Riverviews will be taking numerous steps to ensure the safety of its visitors and staff. They include:

Limited entry. Riverviews will continue to offer free admission for all; however, limited entry will be provided so that proper social distancing within the galleries can be maintained. This means there may be short waiting periods to enter. We appreciate your flexibility.

Wayfinding. For the foreseeable future, there will be a designated path through the galleries, designed to ensure visitors are able to access all galleries while maintaining social distancing guidelines. This path will be identified during visits with on-site signage and graphics.

Cleanliness. Facilities teams are implementing an increased cleaning and sanitizing plan, especially in frequent contact areas and travel paths.

Masks. Staff and Visitors will be required to wear a mask at all times.

A phased approach. While the galleries will be open to the public, for the safety of visitors and staff, all indoor, event and class programming is currently on hold until the fall.

Visitors who don’t feel comfortable physically returning to Riverviews will still have access to art through our website and social media, including virtual exhibits, blogs, panel discussions, artist interviews and more.

As the situation develops, Riverivews will continue to follow recommendations provided by the commonwealth of Virginia, and we will remain dedicated to providing you with a safe visitor experience,” said Ms. Soerensen. Safeguards include social distancing markers, required face masks and frequent cleaning of the galleries.
