Learn the foundational principles and skills to create beautiful modern calligraphy. This course will focus on basic supplies, terminology, and writing elegant number and letter formations. This course will prepare students to apply modern calligraphy in practical ways so that they can feel confident to use their skills for a number of projects; envelope addressing, handmade gifts, and special event details.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Hilary Smejkal is the owner of Artemisa Calligraphy and Design. She lives in Lynchburg with her husband and their two young children. In 2015 Hilary began learning the art of hand lettering and calligraphy. Her interest in this art quickly grew from a hobby to a passion. She has flourished in using calligraphy as a small business by addressing envelopes, designing wedding goods, and fulfilling a variety of custom projects for her clients. Hilary values the delicate balance between elegance and vibrant design. This has helped her to establish a sophisticated and modern style in her work. Hilary’s greatest joy in calligraphy is being able to use it to connect with the people in her community.
