In an effort to proceed safely with our internship program during the Covid-19 pandemic, Riverviews Artspace is currently seeking a candidate for a Gallery Assistant intern. As the gallery assistant intern, you will work alongside the Riverviews staff to assist in the daily operations of our galleries and programs, virtually and/or in person. This internship will be 6-7 weeks during the Spring 2021 semester. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

• Assist curatorial team with the planning and installation of art exhibitions. This may include administrative tasks, such as filing and digitizing documents, composing press releases, composing exhibition catalogues, etc., and physical handling of artwork. 

• Collaborate with program and media managers on programming, digital projects, and social media presence. This may include facilitating programs in person or virtually, taking pictures during events and programs, and writing and editing copy text for social media and newsletters. 

• If an area of interest is relevant, for example, grant writing or education, internship could be expanded to include such interests.

• If able to be present in person, you will represent Riverviews Artspace during gallery appointments and special events where one should have knowledge of the current exhibitions and a general knowledge of the organization’s mission and history.

Candidates for this internship do not necessarily need to be majoring in art and design, but should consider themselves creative, have some background in studio art or graphic design, an interest in arts management and art history, and/or an interest in non-profit organizations. This internship is open to current college students and the recently graduated. This internship is unpaid.
