Exhibit run: May 8th - June 30th, 2020, online at Riverviews Artspace.
As we continue to face the ever-growing challenges and changes brought on by the coronavirus epidemic, we find ourselves creating in unique and unexpected ways. The CDC recommends that citizens wear cloth face coverings in public settings where social distancing measures are difficult to maintain. This mandate has given many of us the opportunity to brush up on our sewing skills and repurpose what we have in our homes to make face masks for ourselves and those we love.
At Riverviews, we believe that art is important now more than ever! We invited the community to take part in a Face Mask Face-Off! You showed us your most creative, outrageous, beautiful or just plain extravagant mask you can create and we are now showcasing them in an online exhibit! This call was open to anyone and everyone looking to express themselves during this stressful time. Submitted masks were allowed to be functional or decorative and be made of any media, including digital media and non traditional materials.
Voting will open May 8th for People’s Choice through June 4th. (Voting is closed.)
Winners for People’s Choice and Staff Picks will be announced First Friday, June 5th.
Prizes will be various Riverviews Artspace tickets and swag! The people’s choice winner will receive two tickets to our annual fundraiser party- Next year’s event is The Andy Warhol Experience at Riverviews! Winners for the staff picks will receive two tickets to one of our Lynchburg Underground Movie Club film nights and a t-shirt of your choice.
