BEAT BURG IS RIVERVIEWS ARTSPACE’S ANNUAL EVENT CELEBRATING ALL WORD-CENTERED ART FORMS.

FROM POETRY, TO RAP, TO TYPOGRAPHY, BEAT BURG ENCOURAGES COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO CONSCIOUSLY ENCOUNTER LANGUAGE AND THE ART THAT STEMS FROM IT. THE PROGRAM AIMS TO ENGAGE PEOPLE OF ALL AGES, BUT PARTICULARLY YOUNG PEOPLE, WITH LITERATURE, POETRY, AND MUSIC.

The events that make up Beat Burg change from year to year to accommodate and reflect the current cultural movements at home and afar. In previous years, Beat Burg has featured a regional poetry competition where winner’s poems were printed and posted throughout Lynchburg, including a live rap battle tournament, spoken word poetry events, lettering lessons, and live concerts.
