In the fictional small town of Santa Mira, California, Dr. Miles Bennell (Kevin McCarthy) is bewildered when an unlikely theory is brought to his attention by his patients: they all claim their loved ones have been replaced by emotionless impostors. Dr. Bennell and a few others soon realize his patients are right. An alien race has come with human-like duplicates devoid of emotion in an attempt to quietly replace the human race with their own, one person at a time.

This film is directed by Philip Kaufman, written by W.D Richter (screenplay) based off a novel by Jack Finney and stars Kevin McCarthy and Dana Wynter.
