Ramiro G. Hinojosa Reading

Join us for a reading by VCCA Fellow Ramiro G. Hinojosa on January 18th at 7:30 p.m. in the Rosel H. Schewel Theater.

Hinojosa is the recipient of a VCCA fellowship funded by the National Endowment for the Arts as part of VCCA’s “Collateral Reparations: Military Veterans and the Redemptive Power of Artists Residencies” program.

A native Texan, Ramiro Hinojosa earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Texas State University and a Bachelor’s in Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin. His fiction has appeared or is forthcoming in Huizache and War, Literature & the Arts, and his personal essays have appeared online at Tin House and Guernica Daily. He served in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of sergeant, and deployed to Iraq from 2006-07 as a Personal Security Detachment team leader with the 82nd Airborne Division. He’s previously worked as a newspaper reporter and an opposition researcher for political campaigns. Currently, he is completing a linked collection of stories.

This reading is presented through a collaboration between the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and Riverviews Artspace.

VCCA is a unique Virginia-based organization of national stature and international impact. Since its inception in 1971, VCCA has hosted 5, 700 writers, visual artists, and composers.

Riverviews Artspace is a nonprofit arts organization committed to presenting contemporary art exhibitions, multi-disciplinary programs and events as diverse as our community. Its mission is to cultivate inclusivity, and quality of life via the arts.
