6th Annual Juried Show, November 6th – December 14th, 2014

Artists from across the Commonwealth of Virginia will be represented in the 6th Annual Juried Art Show at Riverviews Artspace. The exhibition will open on Friday, November 7st at 5:30 pm — awards of $1,000, $500, and $250 will be announced.   The exhibition will be on view through Friday, December 14th.

The Juror: Laura Roulet is an independent curator and writer, specializing in contemporary and Latin American art. She was one of five international curators chosen for the initial 5×5, a major public art initiative in Washington DC. Her recent exhibits include CSA: Forty Years of Community-Sourced Art (Arlington Arts Center, VA), Frances Gallardo: Meteorology (Torpedo Factory, VA), Wilmer Wilson IV: the FOREVER Aftermath with the programming “Performance: Aftermath” (Artisphere,VA), and Sculpting Outside the Lines in Foggy Bottom. Exhibits focused on international artists include several exhibits at the Art Museum of the Americas as well as exhibits in Mexico City and Puerto Rico. Her publications include articles in American Art, Art Journal, Art Nexus, Sculpture, and the book Contemporary Puerto Rican Installation Art, the Guagua Aerea, the Trojan Horse and the Termite. She worked on the Ana Mendieta retrospective at the Hirshhorn Museum in 2004, and contributed to that catalogue.
