BEAT BURG is Riverviews’ annual multi medium celebration of National Poetry Month throughout April. Since 2014, every year we connect with professional, amateur and young aspiring poets, partner with schools (R.S.Payne, TC Miller, Dunbar) and businesses ( Robin Alexander, Galaxie Modern, Altria Chocolate, GLTC, City of Lynchburg) to create events and initiatives celebrating the spoken word. Poetry Slam! A Poetry Night for Kids Join us for a small reception featuring local students from Paul Dunbar Middle, Linkhorne Elementary and R.S. Payne Elementary on April 20th at 7pm. Students will sharing their poetry submitted for a competition and winners will be announced. This BeatBurg event will be free and open to the public in the Craddock-Terry Gallery. Refreshments will be available.

The Human Library (2nd Session)

The Human Library is an international movement that started in Denmark in the year 2000 and has since made its way through over 30 countries. In The Craddock Terry Gallery: Timmy Graham

Philadelphia-born artist Timmy Graham has created a painting style that he calls “The Fourth Dimension,” which uses both math and science to organize color and content. Inspired by the work of Flemish painters Hubert and Jan Van Eyck, 17th century Dutch painter Rembrandt and artists of the Italian Renaissance, Graham’s system blends mathematically derived color combinations with cultural totems.
